Never-Before-Heard MC Hammer Song Written By Tupac Has Surfaced

MC-Hammer-Tupac-Shakur-Too-Tight-Death-Row

The mythos of Tupac Shakur and MC Hammer are intertwined and prolific to the story of hip-hop. The ties that bind these two together comes when the former signed to Death Row, which featured the latter as another signee. In that time after Shakur’s release from prison, he went into overdrive that has since influenced every lyricist from Lil’ Wayne to Kendrick Lamar.

According to reports and video, a part of Tupac’s deal with Death Row included writing and recording songs for other Death Row acts. MC Hammer was included in this energetic burst of creativity from 2Pac, as the “California Love” MC had enough material for a double album, several posthumous albums and several songs for Hammer’s Too Tight album.

Over the years, the legend of the MC Hammer x Tupac recording session has had video footage and eye witness accounts surface. This week, a CDQ quality version of the track “Too Tight” surfaced and can be heard in its entirety below. Back when this was being record, ‘Pac can be seen behind the boards with Jose Fuentes, producing a reference track for Hammer that was being played in the background. Another song, “Too Late Playa” was also recorded which featured Big Daddy Kane.

From the VHS-styled playback to the 1995 vibe in the studio, “Too Tight” sounds like a worthy addition to MC Hammer’s brand. It’s a shame that the album never seen the light of day, but after hearing this version of the track — you should press play immediately. If you can guess the sample, you could possibly win something cool from us here at OKP!
