Gently bouncing back and forth, <<strong>a href=”http://ift.tt/1NNFiyt; target=”_blank”>Flofilz‘s new single “Basement Jazz” is all you could ask for from a surprise single drop. The German producer loops a cool piano line, dusty drum loop and wooly bassline in just the right way, creating a shag-carpeted sonic space in which Blu can settle in to do his thing. “Basement Jazz” has that certain unassuming, tasteful character that we often hear from Freddie Joachim and Tom Misch, and there’s certainly always room for one more at this table.

“Basement Jazz” will be featured on Flofilz’s upcoming LP Speakthru, which will be released on the German groove-centric label Jakarta Records later this year. (For the record, Jakarta has been on an absolute tear lately, sharing gems like this one and last week’s “Reaping” from Ivan Ave.) Listen to “Basement Jazz” below and try to imagine yourself kicking back after-hours style, taking in an acoustic trio while the city’s din sits just outside of earshot. It’s the kind of tune that weekend afternoons were unquestionably made for. The drums are just right, the flow is proper and the tempo is loose; everything is correct and in its right place.
